Kirkman's Kamp
Kirkman's Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness and the Sabi Sand River, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920's Kirkmans Kamp celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead. |
XOVONEKELA'S STOLEN FOOD
It is always amazing to see what the bush holds...Yesterday morning's game drive was no exception. The rollercoaster female had killed an adult impala ram and as she bought her son back to the kill she was unpleasantly surprised to find the dominant male feeding from her kill. She prompty left the area with her son in the area to wait until his father had finished feeding from the kill. All the while a hyena was lying patiently below the tree waiting for scraps. When the big male finished the kill he allowed his son to then feed. Incredibly the cub then went and lay metres away from the male and attampted to play with him! This is seldom seen behaviour as male leopards generally have very little to do with their cubs. It just goes to show that the bush never fails to surprise you.
