The panted wolves of Africa is an endangered species. They have been our best sighting since the year started.

On the new road from Xudum to pompom I came across the "most wanted", uncommon resident palish brown pels fishing owl whilst driving to pompom airstrip.

The puffadder was seen crossing a two metre deep channel from one side to another covering about a half a kilometre distance. This was amazing and is quite uncommon to see.

Buffaloes were seen in the area on 24 Zpril 2012 and we suspected that they have come from the south of the area (from matsibe side). There were about 200 of them.

We were driving in the baobabs area at night and Kenny spotted this animal which we thought was a female lion at first. When we looked through the binoculars we saw that it was a leopard! This was the second time I've seen this cat in the area and it was not shy.

It was in the afternon when we were boating and looking for the pels fishing owl that we got lucky and found thisbird in the tree hole between the two branches of the jakal berrytree. We thought that it was sitting on its nest.

In the whole of Botswana, the Xudum area has the highest number of baobab trees ever recorded in the country. It is a pity that we have lost four witnesed trees this year from the giant of the fauna.
