YELLOW-BILLED OXPECKERS
The small waterhole in front of &Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge is a great place to view Yellow-billed Oxpeckers. Not many keen birders enjoy rare sightings of this vulnerable species and at one stage it was believed to be on the brink of extinction. I believe a few of these birds cleverly nest near to the water, presumably in the natural cavity of Mopane trees, as many mammals carrying ticks and parasites frequently come down to the water to drink.
